Privacy Policy — Venir

Overview

Venir is a social calendar app where you post events and see what your friends are attending. We take your privacy seriously and collect only the minimum data needed to provide the service.

Data We Collect

When you use Venir, we store the following data on our servers:

• Account information: Your email address, display name, and avatar image (if provided). If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the name and email associated with that account.
• Events you create: Event title, date, time, location, description, category, visibility setting, and any uploaded event image.
• RSVPs: When you mark yourself as "going" or "maybe" on an event.
• Comments: Text comments you post on events.
• Friend connections: Your friend requests and accepted friendships.

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used exclusively to provide the Venir service:

• Display your events and RSVPs to friends based on your visibility settings
• Show your profile to other users who search for friends
• Power the social feed (ranking events by friend activity and recency)
• Process event images through AI to extract event details (when you use the image capture feature)

We do not use your data for advertising, sell it to third parties, or build marketing profiles.

AI Image Processing

When you use the image-to-event feature, your uploaded image is sent to a third-party AI service (Anthropic's Claude) to extract event details such as title, date, time, and location. The image is processed in real time and is not stored by the AI provider beyond the duration of the request. This feature is rate-limited to 10 uses per minute.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure in the United States (us-west-1 region). All data is encrypted in transit via TLS and at rest. Database access is protected by Row-Level Security (RLS) policies, meaning users can only access data they are authorized to see based on friendship status and event visibility settings.

Uploaded images (avatars and event images) are stored in Supabase Storage with access controls. Image upload paths are validated server-side to prevent unauthorized access.

Authentication

Venir supports sign-in via email and password, Apple Sign In, and Google OAuth. Authentication is managed by Supabase Auth. We do not store your Apple or Google passwords. OAuth tokens are managed securely by the authentication provider.

Passwords are checked against the HaveIBeenPwned database to prevent use of compromised credentials.

Event Visibility

Venir gives you control over who can see your events:

• Everyone: Any authenticated Venir user can see the event.
• Close Friends: Only users you have marked as close friends can see the event.
• Only Me: Only you can see the event. Other users cannot see your RSVP.

Third-Party Services

Venir uses the following third-party services:

• Supabase: Database, authentication, file storage, and Edge Functions hosting.
• Vercel: Web application hosting and CDN. Vercel collects standard web analytics (page views, performance metrics). See Vercel's privacy policy.
• Anthropic (Claude): AI-powered event image extraction. Images are sent only when you use this feature.
• Apple / Google: OAuth sign-in providers. See their respective privacy policies.

We do not use any advertising SDKs, analytics trackers, or crash reporting services beyond what is built into our hosting providers.

Data Retention

Your account data is retained as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your profile, events, RSVPs, comments, and friendships will be removed. Uploaded images will be deleted from storage.

Children's Privacy

Venir is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us so we can remove it.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Export your data

Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, the revised version will be posted here with an updated effective date. We will notify users of material changes through the app or via email.
